About Ashley Reiser

When did you start at SAC? And why do you work in the fitness industry?
I started teaching swim lessons at SAC at the end of 2022, and it’s been such a fun way to get involved in the community. I’ve always loved the water, I was basically part fish growing up, and teaching lets me share that love while helping people feel confident and capable in the pool. I work in this industry because I get to watch people surprise themselves with what they can do. There’s nothing better than seeing that big “I did it!” smile after a breakthrough moment.

What is your job title and description?
Swim Instructor – I teach private and small group lessons for kids and adults, focusing on water safety, proper technique, and confidence building. My goal is to make every lesson something people look forward to – fun, encouraging, and totally tailored to each swimmer. (If we laugh and make progress, it’s a win in my book!)

Education/Experience/Certifications/Awards
I played Division I basketball at Northern Arizona University, where I earned my Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification. I’m also CPR and First Aid-certified, with 12+ years of teaching experience. I’ve owned and operated my own swim school and worked with everyone from toddlers learning to float to adults training for triathlons. Basically, if you’re ready to get in the water, I’m ready to meet you where you are.

What are your hobbies?
When I’m not teaching, I’m usually outside somewhere – hiking, backpacking, rafting, surfing or exploring Oregon & Washington. I pet sit locally since I can’t own a dog, but love taking care of them. I also coach high school basketball here in Sisters, which keeps me on my toes and connected to the local community.

What is something quirky/interesting about you? or What is your favorite quote?
Something quirky: I love to cowboy camp (sleep out in the wilderness without a tent).
Favorite quote: “Be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire.”
