In a world that rarely stops moving, this class gives you permission to slow down. Meditation at Sisters Athletic Club is a gentle, restorative practice that weaves together soft, mindful movement with deep somatic awareness and a rich variety of meditation traditions — creating a class that tends to the whole person, not just the body and not just the mind, but the profound and inseparable connection between the two.

Each session begins with gentle stretching movements — slow, deliberate, and deeply attentive — designed not to push the body to its limits but to invite it to soften, release, and arrive fully in the present moment. These movements are not warm-up exercises. They are the practice itself — a form of moving meditation that draws your awareness inward, quiets the noise of the day, and prepares the body and mind to settle into stillness together.

From there the class moves into meditation — and no two sessions look exactly alike. The practice draws from a varied and thoughtfully chosen array of meditation traditions and techniques, including breath-focused awareness, body scan, guided visualization, loving-kindness, somatic inquiry, and mindfulness practices rooted in both Eastern and Western traditions. That variety keeps the practice alive, deepening your experience week by week and introducing you to new tools for cultivating inner quiet that you can carry with you long after class is over.

Somatic awareness is the thread that runs through everything — an attentive, non-judgmental listening to the sensations, rhythms, and signals of your own body that develops over time into one of the most valuable skills you can cultivate. It changes not just how you move but how you live — how you respond to stress, how you inhabit your body, how you show up for the people and the moments that matter most to you.

The benefits of a regular meditation practice are profound and well documented — reduced stress and anxiety, improved sleep, greater emotional resilience, sharper focus, lower blood pressure, and a deepened sense of overall wellbeing. But more than any list of benefits, what most people find in this class is something simpler and more essential — a quiet, welcoming space in the middle of their week that belongs entirely to them.

No meditation experience required. No flexibility required. No agenda required. Just come, breathe, and be.

Mats provided. All levels welcome. No prior experience necessary.
